Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls Book Review & Giveaway ends 7/04 daily

About the book:

Naughty is the new Nice..

That’s the mantra and message of the new “tell-all” how-to paperback, physical book from beauty maestro Dimitri James. In Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls, James creates a new kind of finishing school–one for nice girls who always finish anywhere but first.

Tired of seeing the many “nice girls” in his life constantly overlooked, James, a celebrity makeup artist, style guru and television personality, offers a lively and entertaining read full of actionable tips and tricks, showing you how to get whom and what you want.

Those open the book will learn how to look classy, not trashy, trading the prim, proper uniform of “safe” clothing, makeup and hair for something sexier and more inviting, but still situation-appropriate. “You would be surprised how many women don’t know how to use clothes and makeup to market themselves in various social or professional settings,” says James. “‘Nice’ girls are invisible, and ‘trashy’ ones go over the top. ‘Naughty’ is the happy medium that pushes the envelope without crossing the line.”

Thus, James challenges the traditional connotations of the word “naughty” and redefines it as a spirit that can change both image and self-perception for the better. In chapters that range from “Naughty at Work” to “Naughty First Date” to “Naughty Traveler” and “Yummy Mommy,” the author shows readers how to dress outside the box and re-vamp their beauty regimens to add sizzle to their style for all seasons and occasions.
Flip open the physical book to almost any page and find a small gem of wisdom, or a stunningly clear depiction of “nice” vs. “naughty” vs. “trashy,” all sprinkled with James’ trademark wit, candor and spirit of camaraderie.
Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls is loaded with makeup and fashion advice to empower a Nice Girl to transform herself into a spicy but classy woman in every situation. So, go ahead and channel your inner naughty. Instead of fading into the background, become a star in your own life!

  1. I just read the travel chapter...which did not at any point mention bag check fees, and mentioned carrying all your cosmetics on. Apparently the writer has been working on this book for a while, since that chapter must have been written in about 1997. :)

  2. Sounds like a fun book

  3. I will give it to my niece.

  4. I read Naughty at Work!! It's totally like my workplace. There is Nice girl, trashy girl, and naughty girl! I think I fall under the Nice girl category. I see a lot of trashy girl style at work like how the book mentioned but they are usually the type that get most of the guy's attention. As for Naughty girl, I'm liking the style because the book teaches you how you can dress sexy to work without looking like you're trying too hard.

  5. Chapter 2:

"Sometimes a red or berry or even bright pink shade of lipstick can really sex up a boring uniform look"

If I win, I will give the book to myself for my birthday (on Friday!)

  6. I learned Men love lipstick, Who knew?

  7. I didn't realize a man wrote this. I would love to win this book

  8. I wish I had read the book when I was growing up :-)

  9. To my cousin's teenage daughter.

  10. I learned that the German culture (at the time this book was written, at least ;) dresses more formal than the USA.

    1. Grr, I had my name there, but it switched to anonymous. Tamara M.

  11. The Book is loaded with makeup and fashion advice to empower a Nice Girl to transform herself into a spicy but classy woman in every situation.

  12. I learned that this book existed! Awesome!

  13. I like the idea of opening to any page and finding something positive to be matter what our size or age. Hope I win this!!

  14. this book's for me!
